What is Net Zero?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Net Zero<\/mark>, in simple terms, is about finding a balance between the amount of\n greenhouse gases (GHG) <\/mark>emitted into the atmosphere and the amount removed\nfrom it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It's like achieving equilibrium between emissions and carbon removals.\nStriking this balance is a complex process that involves taking various measures\n\nto reduce emissions or increase the removal of greenhouse gases. Actions\ninclude tree planting, installation of carbon capture, utilization and storage\ntechnologies, and investing in sustainable projects that contribute to emission\nreduction, such as renewable energy use and energy efficiency improvements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is Net Zero important?<\/strong><\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It's pretty straightforward \u2013 the concept of Net Zero aims to prevent the worst\nimpacts of climate change and preserve our planet to make it suitable for life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prema Pari\u0161kom sporazumu<\/em><\/strong><\/mark><\/a> Europska unija (EU) je preuzela obvezu smanjenja emisija stakleni\u010dkih plinova za najmanje 55% do 2030. godine, u odnosu na emisiju iz 1990. godine. Na razini EU-a, zemlje \u010dlanice tu obvezu provode zajedni\u010dki, a za to je uspostavljen op\u0161iran zakonodavni okvir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the adoption of the new Green Deal,<\/a><\/em><\/mark> the EU has set an even more\nambitious target \u2013 achieving climate neutrality by 2050. To do this, increased\nefforts in GHG emission reduction will be necessary. The Union's objective is to\nestablish an economy where GHG emissions are equal to or less than the\nremovals, with the aim of holding the increase in the global average temperature\nto well below 2 \u00baC above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the\ntemperature increase to 1.5 \u00baC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thinking globally and acting locally<\/em><\/mark> is the path we all need to collectively\nfollow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organizations, by accurately measuring their carbon footprint and later defining\nand implementing measures to reduce it, are part of the solution to the problem\nof climate change. The long-term goal should be carbon neutrality or achieving\nNet Zero. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering this, setting ambitious emission reduction goals is essential for\norganizations to take responsibility for their carbon footprint and contribute to\nglobal efforts to mitigate climate change. Moreover, reducing GHG emissions can\nhave a positive impact on energy costs and on a company's reputation,\npotentially attracting new investors and customers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transition to a climate-neutral society is an ambitious challenge and an\nopportunity to build a better future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
